There are three methods of adding new products into the WMS

System Product

This provides a master product table which can be used when many stock customers use have the same products and do not have their own codes it can also be linked to obtain LWIN’s (available in the wine and spirit industry)

EDI Product

This section covers receiving new products via EDI, via Excel, via VCIS

Product

This allows new products to be manually entered into the system

System Product Codes

What are these?

This is a central list of products which the system stores and you maintain, this allows you to hold a single product code/description/dimension which can then be added to the customers' products as and when that customer needs to store the product.

When are they used?

When you have multiple customers storing and using the same stock items and you want consistency in the setup and ease of identification.

How does it work?

You select the option to use "System Product Codes" within the customer maintenance form, this means next time they add a product they will be asked for key information to identify the product from the System product table, you select that product from the system product table and it will then be added to the customers product table allowing you to customise it for that customer (usually for charging and customer-specific information purposes).
