Having a Test System
We can provide customers with both a live system (or production system) and a test system/environment, however, the EDI test environment is slightly different from all other test systems available.
EDI is a transactional system, there is very little data stored within the database for EDI, only those items which fail, some control data and some log files are kept in the database, so there is very little information to see or use within the application, in order to use it you must have the EDI service switched on.
Why do we leave the Test EDI service switched off?
Customers can take what they want from the live system to test it, taking from the test only works if the test is being used in a live capacity
EDI customer take on is performed in the Live (production) environment using a test mode flag
Test EDI system has a potential to send emails to customers which are from a non live system if the service is left on
It takes up resources for something you may need to have switched on once per year for a single day
In order to avoid any confusion and to ensure that we are not given any tickets, we will only switch the EDI test service on in controlled situations.
What are the controlled situations?
These are :
When we are requested to perform an end to end test for your customers; this is through editest@visionsuite.co.uk requests.
When you request it to be switched on for testing a new release end to end, we will request the purpose and at the end switch it off and we will review the logs to ensure nothing unexpected happened.
How do you request this to be switched on?
This is simple just let the editest@visionsuite.co.uk email inbox know what you need and when you need it and it can be arranged, if the need is urgent then the support team can be requested to make this change however it's not covered within the scope of the support contract if they carry out this work.
Do you charge for this?
We charge for our time installing the EDI to the next test version however there is no charge for the switching on / off for the Vision EDI service, if requested through editest@visionsuite.co.uk.
We also offer end customer testing services, this allows you to have your customers' inbound files approved for use with EDI, only those approved are covered within the support contract for the application.
