This menu allows you access to the picking functionality within flex.

It allows you to pick either through a bulk pick or single pick and it allows you to pick confirm.

Picking → Get a Pick

Pick Confirmation → Pick Confirmation

Confirmation Efulfillment → Pick Confirmation

Once you complete the pick it is generally confirmed by a third party as to whether it is correct. It is similar to the stage of having a checker for the pick.

What is on this page ?

Picking an Order

The sections below take you through a step by step process of how the pick screens operate.

Get a Pick

This allows you to obtain an order or a bulk pick to start picking.

Ensure you have the correct picking vehicle setup as this controls the height you can pick to.

Your options on this page are :

BULK → you will be asked for a bulk pick UID

SINGLE → you will be asked for the order UID

NEXT ORDER → you will be given the next order using the priority sequence (see below for filtered next order settings)

The Next Order function also works in conjunction with the Vision Warehousing Customer Team settings

Customer Team Admin - Vision Warehousing - Vision Wiki (atlassian.net)

This allows you to restrict a FLEX user to only pick for a specific group of customers.

GET PICK takes you to the next stage of the process

Using the Bulk Pick option

If you are using the bulk pick option the system will automatically give you a pallets worth of stock items.

This uses the capacities against the picking vehicle to determine the max number of cases that can be picked using this vehicle, the mixed pallet configuration setting (usually 56 cases) is used to provide that amount of cases for the pick.

If you are using CPP and picking full pallets it will use the pallet and request a full pallet if this is what is required.

Multiple users are able to ask for the same bulk pick, each user will be provided with the next pallets worth of order stock requirements.

Order of the Pick

This screen allows you to manipulate the picking order for the order you are picking.

You can start with the normal picking sequence or modify to pick by

  • Location

  • Weight

  • Product

  • Product Group

  • Specific Aisle

Once you have decided press the Continue button to go to the Go To Location screen and begin picking

Clicking the Next Order button at any stage will get the highest Pick priority Order first and thereafter as FIFO based on order entry.

Order by Option

Location

(Default) this is the normal option on your pick notes, it will use location order to pick in a specific sequence, you maintain this sequence within the WMS

Product

Product Group

This option uses the product group settings of

  • Picking note sequence

  • Prioritise layers

Weight

Pick Option - Starting Aisle

You can manually decide where you wish to start the pick, ignoring the order by, this option will show you the aisles where you have to pick goods and you can simply select the aisle.

Goto Location

This screen directs you to the location you will be picking from.

If you are at the location and you use check digits then scan the location label or enter the check digit, if not then simply click the NEXT button.

If your location needs a check digit and it is missing you can over-ride this check by selecting the “No Label” option.

Changing your location

If you intend to pick from a different location then you can alter your location by clicking the Divert button (top right of the screen)

This will take you to the Go-To Another Location Screen.

You are able to stop the picking using the top right button.

Goto Another Location

If you want to pick from an alternative location to the one that the system has chosen then you can use this screen after hitting the divert option on goto location

Select your Location from the list that you wish to Pick from next.

Click the Continue button to return to the Go To Location screen.

Find the Rotation

After confirming your location you will now be told the rotation you will be picking.

Identify the stock and then scan the rotation label, or enter the check digit or mark that there is no label.

You will be told how many items the system thinks are in this location at this point.

Information for the remaining is obtained when you obtained the original pick from the system

Once you have confirmed the rotation, click next to find out how many you need to pick.

There is an option at this point to use the free pick option, see picking a different rotation section below. This should be used sparingly as it completely ignores the chosen item allowing a free pick on any stocks.

You are able to stop the picking using the top right button.

 Picking a Different Rotation

The system allows picking a different rotation to the one requested, this can be useful when it's easier for the picker to access an alternative rotation.  In order to do this the Flex user profile must have the 'Allow rotation change in pick' option enabled, if this is disabled the user must pick the requested rotation.  It's also necessary for the picker's device to have an active WiFi signal, this feature cannot work offline or in a WiFi dead spot.

When enabled a different rotation within the same location can be scanned instead.  The system will perform a check at this point to see if the scanned rotation complies with the same availability checks which are performed when entering or picking an order, so for example:

  • Is non customs duty paid stock allowed?

  • Is under bond stock allowed?

  • Is duty paid stock allowed?

  • Does the order type and tax code require duty stamps and is the selected rotation stamped?

Basically if the scanned rotation is allowed to be entered on to the order in the WMS then Flex will allow it to be picked instead of the requested rotation.

There is a further condition that the duty status of the requested rotation must match the duty status of the scanned rotation (this is due to EMCS / ARC requirements).

If the stock can be taken it will ask the user to confirm that they wish to pick the alternate rotation and then proceed.

Pick Quantity

This form shows what you are required to pick of the rotation you just confirmed you were going to pick from.

Order line notes can be seen on the pick quantity screen.

You must confirm the quantities you have picked in the fields at the bottom of the screen. Confirm the quantities picked from the selected Location (in Pallets, Cases and Singles).

Once you have the quantity then click NEXT.

You are able to stop the picking using the top right button.

Picked that….

This form confirms the quantity that you have picked and will also show you the expected amount which remains in the location.

If you mark a discrepancy this is sent to the VIM application for further checking by stock control.

If you require despatch labels then enter the number required and click the Print button.

Pallet Labels are available at this point as you could be picking a large order and locating it pallet by pallet in a marshalling area, needing each pallet to be labelled with the locator or a pallet number.

You can also print labels at the conclusion of the order which is more for smaller single pallet picks.

You can Create VIM only if licensed for VIM (Vision Issue Manager)

when you have completed this item then click the FINISH button

You are able to stop the picking using the top right button.

Depending on whether there are more lines on the order to pick you will be taken back to the location selection (order of the pick) or if there are no further lines to pick you will be moved forward to the order summary.

Order Summary

If you are using the pallets option and they need to be recorded then this optional screen is presented to the user where they will have to record the amount of pallets used.

When you press the FINISH button the order will now become available on the PICKING CONFIRMATION screen

Final Order Summary Page is to allow you to print a pallet label allowing you the opportunity to confirm the total pallets / part pallets and print a pallet label.

This then allows the pallet to be scanned for pick confirmation.

It also aids the tracing of the pallet as the pallet location can also be added onto this form allowing you to auto number / manual number or provide a marshalling/pick location number which then is printed onto the pallet label.

Click the Finish button complete the Pick and move the Order to the Pick Confirmation screen.

Picking Confirmation

This is designed to allow you to use the printed order label (produced at the end of an order pick) to be used to scan to retrieve the order details. However there are other options to be able to find this manually.

Pick confirmation is designed to be a quick total case count confirmation option, it can be turned off in the settings or set to be automatic for smaller orders.

This screen is used to Pick Confirm an Order.

If the Order UID has not been auto-populated from a previous screen you will need to enter it (to the left of the Retrieve button).

Entering either the Bulk Pick UID or Order UID (depending on the selected item) by clicking the Single or Bulk buttons and Clicking the Retrieve button (which also shows the information from the initial Pick).

Click the View O/S button If you do not know the Bulk Pick or Order UID to be taken to Pick Confirm Outstanding screen.

View Outstanding Option

If you use the View o/s option on picking confirm you will have a list of all outstanding orders listed.

Pick the line you wish and confirm the quantities are correct.

Bulk Orders - Pick Confirm

When pick confirming a bulk pick this then allows you to move on to the bulk pick replenishment stage or the e-fulfilment status.

As this is a bulk pick this stage is only there to confirm completion of the bulk pick and you are ready for the re-pick

Pick Confirm - Details

Usually pick confirmation requires a case count but there are occasions when you need to view the details of the order.

When you click the DETAILS option on the pick confirmation form you will be able to view the details.

Only relevant details are shown on the form which allow you to look at the rotation and quantities.

Interactions with the WMS

Pick Priority

All orders are assigned a default pick priority of 5.

You can modify the priority of any of the Orders currently showing in the results list, click in the Priority field and entering a number between 1 and 9

1 is the lowest priority. The highest number is the highest priority.

When you ask the flex device for NEXT ORDER it will select the highest priority oldest order first.

UnPick on Vision Warehousing

You will not automatically know if a user has unpicked on the main WMS.

There is no facility to warn the flex user that their order has been unpicked, if you choose to use this operation on the main WMS system then you need to inform the flex user, this is because the device is designed to work offline so it will down load the pick and the system uploads the information when it is completed.

Adjustment of Quantity Picked

As you are picking you will be asked to confirm the quantity you have picked, if this is different to the amount requested the WMS will be updated to reflect the lower picked quantity.

You should question why this is required because if the system knows about the stock in the warehouse it would not be sending you to a location where there is no stock, the use of this should be controlled to a few reasons e.g. found damaged stock when picking.

A pick variance enquiry is available in the main WMS system which shows all pick variances, we strongly suggest that this is run on a regular basis as this report should in general be clear of issues.

EFulfillment

This screen will allow you to record when an item is being e-fulfilled for additional charges to be added to the goods outward charge.

This will show the Customer Sundries that you are able to add to the order. To show all Customer Sundries you will need to switch the toggle to right.

You would need to add at least one Sundry to the order to click Confirm.

This is the same for Break Down for Bulk Pick
