Introduction

Vision integrates with HMRC’s Customs Declaration Service (CDS) through the CDS Data Interchange screen available in Vision Bond. The purpose of HMRC’s CDS system is to replace the antiquated CHIEF system . It which handles electronic declarations for imports into and exports out of the UK. HMRC’s CDS went live in 2018 handling a small number of specific declaration types and HMRC they are continuing to build features into the system to get it to a stage where it’s fully capable of replacing CHIEF.

Vision Bond has integrated with CHIEF for years via the CFSP Data Interchange screen handling payments of customs duty for inland locations such as customs warehouses. When CDS became capable of handling the this type of declarations Vision requires declaration our work started to integrate with the new system and we are now working with HMRC & customers to assist them in migrating across to the new system in a controlled manner.
