Introduction
Vision integrates with HMRC’s Customs Declaration Service (CDS) through the CDS Data Interchange screen available in Vision Bond. The purpose of HMRC’s CDS system is to replace the antiquated CHIEF system which handles electronic declarations for imports into and exports out of the UK. It does not , it doesn’t replace any other system such as ATWD nor EMCS. HMRC’s CDS first went live in 2018 handling a small number of specific declaration types and they are they’ve been continuing to build features into the system to get and expect it to a stage where it’s fully capable of replacing CHIEFfully replace CHIEF and therefore decommission it on 31/03/2023.
Vision Bond has previously integrated with CHIEF for years via the CFSP Data Interchange screen handling payments of customs duty for inland locations such as customs warehouses. When CDS became capable of handling this type of declaration our work started to integrate with the new system and we are now working with HMRC & customers to assist them in migrating in a controlled manner. Customers are instructed to not use the module until we get in contact, CDS has now taken over therefore the CFSP screen is now redundant.
