EMCS August 2024 Problems

HMRC updated their EMCS service in August, there have been many problems noticed since which they’re still trying to resolve, the majority of which they’ve refused to make public. However they are acknowledging them in the regular update meetings we’re having, including those which resulted in ARCs in customer systems being updated with incorrect statuses, which in turn caused issues with the ARC pages on the W1. For the previous two months, the policy team at HMRC gave us permission for all of our customers to submit the W1 with invalid information in the ARC sections while we’ve been working on a new synchronisation screen to fix those statuses, which is almost complete however we’ve had to pause all work on it while we wait for HMRC to deliver more fixes. As such we’ve requested the permission for customers to submit the W1 with incorrect information in the ARC section for October as well, we’ll update this page when we’ve received it.

We’ve today received confirmation that HMRC have granted our customers another month’s extension for allowing incorrect information to be submitted in the W1 ARC sections.
