VD Scanning v3.2

VDS-81 | Consolidated delivery note scanning | New Feature | In a future version of Distribution & Document Generator, a new Consolidated Delivery Note will be generated for multiple deliveries to a drop point containing stock sourced from various customer accounts. |
VD Scanning v3.1
Issue key | Summary | Issue Type | Description |
VDS-63 | Barcode recognition reliability | Bug | Barcodes on some PODs were failing to be read by VDS, requiring users to enter them manually. Barcode recognition has been optimised. |
VDS-58 | Barcode recognition - out of memory | Bug | When reading the barcode of some documents, an OutOfMemoryException could occur. |
VDS-66 | Scanning methods - TWAIN | Improvement | The library used to interface with the scanner when Scan Method is set to ‘TWAIN’ has been replaced with an alternative, which provides better image quality without affecting the size of scanned image files. |
VDS-64 | Minimum scan resolution & image compression | Improvement | As the application is now capable of scanning 2D format barcodes for the Vision Document Scan Labels, the minimum resolution we recommend for scanning these barcodes is 300 dpi. Changes have been made to set the default scan resolution to set it to 300 dpi, and where users set this to anything lower, warnings will now be shown explaining why a higher resolution is recommended. With higher resolution images this means scan files will be larger, so compression has also been optimised and files are now smaller than they were even in previous versions. |
VDS-59 | Document Scan Labels & Manifests | Improvement | New versions of Vision Warehousing produce Document Scan Labels which contain a 2D barcode, and Vision Distribution now prints a 1D barcode on it’s Manifest (as a fallback for when their ePOD fails or a paper note isn’t available). |
VDS-53 | Awaiting upload log - spelling | Issue | In the ‘Awaiting Upload’ tab on the right side we have an application log, when an error was encountered when importing a file the following words were incorrect, 'OCCOURED' & 'DESCRPTION'. |
VD Scanning v3
Issue key | Summary | Issue Type | Affects versions | Description |
VDS-36 | Integration with Suite Launcher (VSL) | Improvement | 2.0.0 | The VDS setup has been simplified with v3, the final piece to the puzzle to allow users to install themselves is to integrate the VDS with VSL. |
VDS-32 | Image file upload & user transparency | Improvement | 2.0.0 | In the previous version there were 2x components to the installation; Document Scanner (application) and Image Uploader (service). This complicated the installation & setup, presented problems if multiple scanner users used the same machine with different logins, and failed uploads were not at all transparent to the users. As such in this version the Image Uploader service is now redundant and that functionality has been moved into the Document Scanner itself. Successfully indexed files will be visible in a new tab where users can press a button to upload them, with full transparency of any failed uploads. |
VDS-18 | Licensing | Improvement | 2.0.0 | Various improvements to licensing. |
VDS-17 | General update to latest versions | Improvement | 2.0.0 | The product has been updated, the application itself and the internal scanning component which interfaces with the scanner as well. |
VD Scanning v2
UID | Summary | Issue Type | Affects Version/s | Release Notes |
VDS 12 | VDS updating manifest to Status D when the first delivery is confirmed. | Bug | 1.0.1 | If a manifest has 5 delivery's on it. When uploading scans from VDS, the manifest status should be updated to 'D' and only when processing the final delivery on the manifest which is outstanding. |
VDS 9 | Scanner halting after a paperjam | Bug | 1.0.0 | With some new scanners (Epson GT-S85) when there's a jam the software halts reporting "Scanning in process..." The driver reports a jam. Clearing the jam and clicking okay doesn't restart the scanning. |
VDS 8 | Unable to save edited configuration file | Bug | 1.0.0 | You are unable to save an edited configuration with the software. It reports an error accessing the file. Even if you are logged in as admin. We are getting around this by editing the XML file manually. |
VDS 7 | Software not closing correctly | Bug | 1.0.0 | When closing down the software it will intermittently still stay in the process list (the software will appear to close to the end user). Upon opening the software again it'll report that the scanner is unavailable (at this point there are 2 processes in the process list). This only appears to occur with Windows 7 (the systems are 64bit) |
VDS 4 | Allow the use of the program without a scanner - Direct image upload to a directory, program to loop through the files and index each by reading barcode | New Feature | Able to use VDS with a network scanner, whereby a PC is not required to control the scanning, the scanner dumps the scan in a network directory. | |
VDS 2 | Licensing | Improvement | In the first full release of the VD scanning application we added a license field on to the setup tab in the application, we also allowed this to be saved. |
