Email Monitor Service
Introduction
The Vision EDI Email Monitor Service collects the attachments from the emails sent in by customers to the EDI mailbox and passes them to the Vision EDI Service for processing. The email transmission method is deprecated however, integrations should now use the API method instead but this page contains legacy information for integrations which still use the older method.
v4.3.3+ of the service collects the mail using the mailbox types:
POP3 (basic authentication)
Microsoft 365
Outlook.com
From 1st October 2022 Microsoft 365 no longer supports the use of POP3 Basic Authentication.
Using POP3
We require the following information:
Server address
Username
Password
Port Number
Using Microsoft 365
If Ontech don’t have administrative control over your Microsoft 365 tenant we’ll require you to provide permission for the service to connect to it, click the following URL:
Authorise Vision to access your Microsoft 365 tenant
You will receive confirmation that Vision has been authorised and can close that tab.
Limiting application permissions to specific Exchange Online mailboxes
Note that the permission request access to all mailboxes, the service however does not need this level of access. We have to request this permission not by choice, but by the way Microsoft Graph API works. We therefore strongly recommend following the article Limiting application permissions to specific Exchange Online mailboxes - Microsoft Graph to restrict access permissions:
To the Vision EDI mailbox for inwards emails
To whichever mailbox you want Vision Suite applications to send emails out from (coming in future versions)
We will then require the following information:
Your Microsoft 365 tenant ID (see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/onedrive/find-your-office-365-tenant-id)
The mailbox email address used by your customers to send EDI files
