Going live with CDS
Prerequisites
Customers can only go live with CDS once https://visionsoftware.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/VB/pages/2872410115 is complete.
You and your deferment customers have completed all preparation required in Preparing for CDS.
Notify us
Tell our support team that you’re ready to go live
From this point onwards the CDS module must not be used until we’ve confirmed and you can go live
We will:
Clear all TDR data from Vision Bond
Set Vision Bond CDS into ‘Live’ mode, meaning:
It will be linked to the live HMRC CDS system
The ‘Import’ button will now only import records which have not not already been imported into either the CDS or CFSP modules
Agree a cut off / go live date with you. There is usually a clear end of month cut off between switching between systems, however this is not compulsory.
Going live
The customs duty payment creation job is scheduled to run at the end of the day, this creates all customs duty payments for the day in Warehousing and they’re then automatically posted across to Bond in time for day end to be run the next morning.
CFSP
If your CDS go live day is scheduled for the 1st of the month for example, the final day you use CFSP will be the same day. On this day you’ll import all declarations for the previous day (last day of the previous month).
Ensure you import everything into CFSP and finish using it on this day, running it afterwards will risk importing declarations for the new month which should instead been handled in CDS.
Do not run day end, first import declarations for the previous day into CFSP
Ensure all declarations are accepted and that there are none left pending in the CFSP module
If you often find that when importing declarations into CFSP, declarations older than the previous day are imported (imported late) then we can manually run the customs duty payment routine again to ensure that you’ve got everything, taking care to not import any new payments for the current day (as those will be submitted to CDS).
If you have a clear end of month cut off between using CFSP and going live with CDS, proceed to generate the FSD, submit & process the response. Ensure the response was processed successfully and that the FSD was accepted.
The CFSP module should no longer be used.
Day end
Run day end & notify our support team in a support ticket so the remaining settings can be switched over Requesting Support.
The next morning start using the CDS screen. Alternatively we may (if possible) bring some customs duty payments through for the current day so you can test everything’s working fine without having to wait.
First time using CDS live
Remember that the first time you use CDS, you’ll need to enter the HMRC user credentials of an account with access to the CDS system for your organisation.
After you’ve authenticated with the HMRC system, close & reopen Bond before proceeding to use it as normal.
FSD for first month
HMRC have confirmed to us
if a trader is using both CHIEF and CDS in one given month they will need to submit 2 FSDs, one to CHIEF and one to CDS.
…and that:
The entries for SDWs in CHIEF are specific to CHIEF and need their own FSD submitted. The entries for CDS are specific to CDS and need their own FSD submitted. The two systems do not reflect the other, only themselves.
CFSP/SCDP rules state that the FSD must be submitted even if no supp decs were due in that period.
